At a Loss for Words
As as Student Pastor, I am fully aware of how important it is to kick off the new year with huge momentum by putting your best efforts out there to keep the flywheel moving.
That was my plan until the Wednesday before, I lost my voice. Like, lost it so bad that all I could muster was a whisper.
No bueno.
This was bad on about 32 different levels.
What am I going to do now? I can’t find a speaker this late in the game!
Friday, as I sat on my son’s couch and watched him play Tiger Woods 2010 on his XBOX, a thought hit me:
“What would our world look like if every Christian lost their voice?”.
That thought became a serious question which led me down a path of what that question was really asking.
So, instead of finding a speaker, I preached a simple sermon opening up this question without saying a word.
I recorded this video and played it to my GPS students. It was a powerful service and it was clear why God allowed me to lose my voice. It was to show me, once again, the power isn’t in the messenger but in the message.
I want 2011 to show me speaking much louder through my actions than with my well crafted words shot from behind a music stand on a Sunday morning.
What about you?
Question: If you lost your voice, how would you communicate the Good News to this world?
