The Good Vampire Debate

Last night I had a neat opportunity to tour a movie theater and walk through the projectionist’s booth.

In the course of that I saw some posters for the new Twilight movie coming out. I talked with some theater workers about their thoughts on the New Moon movie...

The Biggest Shift: Social Media Infographic

student ministry social media - facebook, twitter, youtube, google

Mashable pointed out this beautiful graphic. It details the reach of social media in our culture today.

Lots of interesting stats. This would be a great graphic to have on hand when talking with parents. (link to full graphic)

Self-Image: Who’s the Real Biggest Loser? We’re Confused!

The following is from a former student in my previous ministry. In her rant she discusses openly the problem with how teen girls are being misled regarding their image, as well as her own struggle in life to have the “right look.”

While some may dismiss this article as a mere rant, Angel writes from an honest heart and is willing to take a stand against what society is telling her and other teen girls today about their image.

Modesty: The Locker Test

If you feel uncomfortable in any of these positions in the dressing room, pass on the outfit. You can be sure you'll be tugging at it all day in the real world.

Okay, so you thought you had a killer outfit when you tried it on in the dressing room. Then you got to school and had the most awkward day ever! Here's a test to make sure you can keep the 3 B's (boobs, butt, belly) in check BEFORE you fork over the cash.

Too Old for Youth Ministry?

Yesterday one of my former youth leaders posted a picture online of the current youth group.  I commented that I didn't know anyone and how it had been a long time since I was in youth group.

This began an online conversation with some of the youth about when I was last in youth group.  I told them that I had graduated in 2001 and was now a pastor at another church a few hours away.

Their comment was "Wow you're old!"

Double Mocha Jesus with Two Pumps of Holy Spirit

This morning, feeling like I needed a cup of coffee, I decided to make some (usually I get it at work). I love to cook and not only do I love to cook but I'm really good at it, but making a cup of coffee for me is like a 5 year old attempting to do brain surgery.
