The most obvious answer is Jesus. But I also want it to be...

What do I mean?

Well, maybe it is time to face up to the fact that I don’t always do what Jesus wants or asks and my attitude to life sometimes stinks. Jesus doesn’t always get a look in. But He should do. Having made me who I am, He is not walking away right now. He knows my desires, my heart and my calling. He knows my family and my friends.

I knew I was supposed to be a pastor at a very young age. Heck, I’m even named after a pastor...Decades before I would present my first formal sermon in front of those 8 students at the First Baptist Church of Pipe Creek, if you hit the “rewind” button about 30 years, you’d find me preaching my face off while standing in the big picture window of our living room. My mom said that I would preach powerfully as if every couch and coffee table in that room was about to gasp its last breath and sink into the eternal flames.
 

In High School I was a janitor (Environmental Services Associate if you want to be politically correct) on two different occasions.  I am convinced that if I used either of those employers for references I could not get another job as a janitor.  To put it simply, I stink at janitoring (I think I made that word up).  It wasn’t that I didn’t work hard, I grew up working hard.  Overall I have a pretty good work ethic.  It wasn’t that I didn’t show up or that I was always late, during my lifetime when I have had to punch a clock, I show up on time 95% of the time (that might actually be low).  What was the problem?  The problem is simple, I simply can’t do the job the way people want it done.
