The only real way to live out the Christian faith is to live it radically and passionately with a mission!  What a waste if it’s not!  God wants us to live with passion for Him and His purposes on the earth.  His main Cause or purpose was for His followers to bring about world-wide life transformation by expanding His Kingdom on the earth by making disciples who make disciples (Matt 28:18-20).

The privilege of joining God at work can become an overwhelming mission.  If we are not cautious we will abandon the mission midstream. Creating Safe Places that secure your spiritual, emotional & physical stability are vital!

Know Your Setting

When I was a graduate student, I took a missions class called “Contextualization” as an elective. The class was essentially intended to equip missionaries for understanding the cross-cultural context, or setting, in which they were going to do mission work so that they could share the message of Christ in culturally astute ways. We discussed ethical issues like bribery, relational issues like polygamy, and theological issues like worship styles that fit the heart language of a people group.

Let Me Re-Introduce Myself

We recently had a new member or prospective new member luncheon. Each of the staff had a minute or two to introduce themselves and share what they did at the church. I thought I made a good pitch but our Pastor made an interesting observation about all our introductions.
