Spiritual Growth

Basis of Christianity

I believe the basis of our Christian faith relies on two questions… “Who is God” and “What is truth?” Yes, our faith is based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ – believing that He died and rose again for our sins – but until we can answer these two questions from a Biblical perspective, it is impossible for us to experience an authentic relationship with Christ. God and truth have become relative in today’s society. In other words, we have created our own gods and designed our own truth...

Creating Safe Places

The privilege of joining God at work can become an overwhelming mission.  If we are not cautious we will abandon the mission midstream. Creating Safe Places that secure your spiritual, emotional & physical stability are vital!

From Distress to Peace

Even in the depths of our distress, as we turn toward the Lord we will find true peace.

Falling from Leadership Because of Disillusionment

Ever felt burned out, burnt up, disillusioned and down, and still in ministry? This article might be for you.

Stepping Stones

He said something like (paraphrasing) “this verse doesn’t say that God’s word is a headlight, shining way down the path of your life to show you what will happen. It’s a lamp–just enough light to see the next step.”

Will You Walk With Me?

It’s that time of year again, it happens every year. Our car is due for inspection and I have this week to get it done. There was only one problem and it wasn’t getting an appointment with my mechanic. My problem was finding a way home once I dropped the car off at the garage. Since we’re down to one car and no one was available there was only one way home…WALK. So I put on my coat, hat and grabbed my MP3 player prepared to walk the three miles (yes, I measured it) home. I was not looking forward to this trek. On my way to the garage complaints ran through my head. And once I started my walk the complaints just increased…

Letter to Yourself

You’re a student, you’re facing the pressures of school, home, friends and dating. Some of you are struggling, wrestling with parents fighting, divorce, temptation from friends, feelings of failure, self-image issues, and the list goes on. And the midst of all this you’re even stressing about where to go to college or what to do with you life. You’re not sure about your future and what it would look like in terms of success as the world sees it. Some days you don’t even want to think about what’s ahead.

Lifting Up My Hands

…Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. –Exodus 17:10-13

Why God Doesn't Show Himself

This is not a new argument, but perhaps an effective one on an emotional level.

When We Feel Like Running Away

There are times in our lives when we feel like running away. I still remember when I was an elementary school kid and one of the bullies came after me during a recess football game. I definitely felt like running away…and I did! As fast as I could go.
